THE uThungulu District Municipality has implemented water restrictions in eShowe with immediate affect.

In a statement, the Municipal Manager MH Nkosi said the minimal rainfall over the past few months has negatively impacted on water levels in both dams feeding the town.

Measures now implemented include no irrigation of gardens, washing of vehicles with a hose pipe, no filling or topping up of swimming pools and no cleaning of surfaces requiring high volumes of water.

He also appealed to residents to report any water leaks.

Water usage will be closely monitored and any instances of excessive use will be viewed in a serious light and penalties can be imposed in such instances.
