Exhibition space in the cheese and wine marquee tent at the George Agricultural Show in August is filling up steadily with a variety of exhibitors already having made their bookings.

This new section at the annual show promises to offer a delectable culinary and sociable experience, says the organiser, Susan Willemse.

"Visitors can look forward to a delicious variety of cheeses, wines and related products such as melkkos, smoked meats, chocolate, olives and more," she says.

Producers who have already booked their space are from all over and include Orange River Cellars from the Northern Cape, Begk's Smoked Food from Montagu that specialises in traditional Hungarian wood smoked meat products, and Humansdorp Woodlands Dairy. Closer to home are Jakkalsvlei Wine Estate (Herbertsdale) and Kingwill Cheeses (Riviersonderend).

"We are still looking for olive products and chocolate and there is still also space available in the cheese and wine categories."

Tickets will be sold for tastings and a designated area with seating and tables will be provided where visitors can relax and be sociable while enjoying the fare.

A special counter for cooking demonstrations with cheese, wine and dairy products also promises to be a hit.
"The Outeniqua Show Society felt that the show, with agriculture as its main focus, would be an excellent platform for producers to get exposure while simultaneously expanding its offering to visitors. There will really be something for everyone - young and old - this year," says Willemse.

She stressed that this event forms part of the George Show programme and is not the George Cheese Festival, which was shifted from George to Wilderness.
